Niklas Bonnevier is the engineer who saddled up and went for a new career. A career that showed to be within design and manufacturing. Educated at Högskolan i Gävle with the degree Bachelor of Science in Industrial Economics he got a position at Ericsson AB working with procurement for almost 6 years. When the possibility came to leave Ericsson with economical compensation he took the opportunity to look for something new.
In Florence, Italy, where he decided to live for 9 months he met design for the first time. Being an engineer he struggled with the sketch pen, not using a ruler, but five years later after finishing two years of preparative studies and three years at Designprogrammet, Linneaus University, he graduated as Bachelor of Fine Arts!
Today he is running Niklas Bonnevier Design with an interest in wooden products. The focus so far has been designing interior products for the children’s room. He says: “There’s a lack in children’s products today. Whatever happened to those wonderful wooden products one could buy when we were kids? Or when our parents or grand parents were kids? Think of the BRIO dog for instance. That product still exists today and it is just as wonderful! There is too much plastic stuff today and I don’t like it at all. Long live wood!”.
